Comments: I ended up injuring my back in May 2021 when I attempted to go back to the gym too quickly while rehabbing another surgical injury. My core wasn’t built up enough and I was lacking mobility through my hip complex. The injury initially had a throbbing sensation in my hip. I started physical therapy, dry needling and massage therapy. Imaging was ordered because I thought I had fractured something in my hip. It was quickly diagnosed that I had herniated a disc in my L5/S1, a 7mm herniation and it was radiating down my left hip and within a short timeframe down into my calf and ankle. Dr. Prasarn saw me and patiently went through the nonsurgical options as he wanted to do everything possible to not have me go under the knife. We tried a series of three epidural steroid injections, rest and physical therapy, but the pain wasn’t going away. After waiting 6 months, he was kind enough to order another image and the herniation hadn’t minimized. He brought me in for an follow-up and sat down with me, answered all of my questions and heard me out on the pain I was going through, he gave me my options and made me feel confident in the decision of a microdiscectomy. I am now two weeks out and able to walk over a mile at a time, drive and get around quite freely. I’ve had my follow-ups with him and his team, Michael, Justin, Tasha, Kathy and they have gone above and beyond to answer each one of my questions. I was having hesitations about my surgery, up until the very last moment; I even called the day before asking if I was making the right decision and Dr. Prasarn walked me through each piece to ensure that I was handling the process just fine. I highly recommend Dr. Prasarn, he is conservative, active himself so he understands the desire to get back in the gym and understanding.
